Iowa quarterback recruit Nic Shimonek completed his high school football career at Mildred (Texas) High School on Thursday night, finishing his senior season in the Texas Class 2-A Division-II state title game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, where his team finished a 13-2 season with a loss in the final.

Shimonek, who made a verbal commitment this summer to sign with the Hawkeyes in February, threw for 2,718 yards and rushed for 811 more this fall. He threw 35 touchdown passes this season, ran for 16 scores and was intercepted six times.

He will arrive at Iowa having thrown for more than 8,000 yards and 99 touchdowns in his high school career.
