Iowa’s 2013 recruiting class grew to six players when the Hawkeyes secured a verbal commitment from its third lineman in as many days on Monday night.

Brant Gressel, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound defensive lineman from Centerville, Ohio, announced on Twitter that he had committed to Iowa after making a weekend visit to Iowa City.

“I felt a good connection right from the start,” Gressel said. “The coaches, the players, the facilities, everything is what I’m looking for. Coach (Brian) Ferentz did a good job of recruiting me and it’s a good situation.”

Gressel selected the Hawkeyes over offers from Pittsburgh, Louisville, West Virginia, North Carolina State, Minnesota and Indiana.

He is regarded as a three-star recruit by both Rivals.com and Scout.com, which also ranks him as the 49th-best defensive tackle in the Class of 2013.

His verbal follows weekend commitments made by defensive lineman Nathan Bazata of Howells, Neb., and offensive lineman Colin Goebel of Naperville, Ill.
