Even in a difficult season, the Quad-City Steamwheelers found a silver lining within their jerseys Saturday.
They took them off, sold them and made a tidy $5,025 to help Genesis Health System provide flu shots to underprivileged kids next winter.
The team's annual jersey auction was a win within a streak of seven losses on the field and an uncertain future off it.
Record-setting receiver Jesse Schmidt's No. 22 was the most popular jersey of the night, going for a bid of $625.
The next highest bid went for fullback Russ Monk's jersey, which sold for $275.
