Ethan Francis of Alpha, Ill., Kee-Socrates Fryxell of Davenport and Mitchell Medinger of East Moline were among a large group of teen golfers who advanced through Monday qualifying at Arsenal Island Golf Course and who will tee it up today in the American Junior Golf Association Junior at the Quad-Cities starting Wednesday at Short Hills Country Club in Moline.

A 96-player field of boys and girls from across the country will vie for the title and AJGA series points in the 54-hole tourney. Neither of the defending champions - Nick Huggins of Marietta, Ohio, and Allison Corpuz of Honolulu - are back to contend. Emma Talley, the 2009 girls winner, will tee it up.

Champions will be crowned Friday. Medinger and Fryxell already were in this week's field, so will gain admission to another AJGA event this summer.
