MAC BASEBALL
Davenport Central 4-12, Pleasant Valley 3-2: The Spartans cut a 4-1 deficit to a single run by the fourth inning of the opener, but Central pitcher Tony Bakeris faced the minimum through the final three innings.
In Game 2, Trevor Kenyon was a triple shy of the cycle in a four-hit performance. The Blue Devils moved to 8-4 in league play as Austyn Martel notched his first MAC victory.
Assumption 7-17, Muscatine 3-6: Jared McIntosh collected seven hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs in the sweep.
Clinton 8-3, North 3-2: Austin Krick homered twice in the River Kings' sweep.
MAC SOFTBALL
Bettendorf 15-5, Clinton 2-1: Sophomore pitcher Kelsey Rose won her fifth conference game in six tries, but her bat proved even more vital.
Rose collected five hits and drove in five runs to keep Bettendorf two games behind MAC leader North Scott in the loss column.
Morgan Lintz also won for the fifth time in MAC play, adding six hits, four doubles and five RBIs to her line.
Burlington 3-9, Davenport Central 0-0: The Blue Devils got four hits from Kate Hoeksema, but they couldn't bring her home.
Central also didn't have much luck keeping the Grayhounds off base. Burlington combined for 17 hits, including seven for extra bases.
The Devils are on a five-game conference losing skid.
