1. Moline (6-0)

Ranked ninth in Illinois Class 4A, the Maroons have a nice blend of talent, role players and experience. Everything clicked for Moline in a 62-28 rout of Quincy last Friday. Deonte Billups had 17 points and 10 boards while Drew Wiemers had 13 points and point guard Brody Harding chipped in 12.

2. Pleasant Valley (2-0)

The Spartans have opened the season with road wins over Iowa City High and Assumption. The trio of Hunter Snyder (17 ppg.), Brian Dayman (16.5) and Carter Duwa (15) have accounted for 77 percent of the team's 63.5 points per game. PV averaged only 51.1 points an outing last year.

3. Rock Island (5-1)

The Rocks posted two impressive road wins last week over Galesburg (60-48) and Ottawa (50-41). JaMir Price led last weekend’s wins with 39 points, making nine of his last 13 shots in the second half against Galesburg. Randy Tucker and Ben Ellis each added 11 points Saturday.

4. North Scott (1-1)

After falling to Cedar Rapids Prairie in the opener, North Scott used a big third quarter Tuesday to record a road win against Muscatine. Guards Cortavious Seales (14 ppg.), Gary Morgan (11) and Corvon Seales (11) are averaging double figures. The Lancers have just 12 turnovers in two games.

5. Alleman (6-1)

Despite the overtime loss to Sterling on Tuesday, Alleman’s resurgence is real. Fast-breaking Pioneers are ranked eighth in 2A and challenge other teams' game plans. Andrew Barrett leads the way for Pioneers with 39 points in last week’s victories over Kewanee and United Township.
