Quad-City Times prep sports editor Matt Coss votes weekly in the Iowa high school Associated Press boys basketball poll.

Given we're still early in the season, there is a lot of fluidity to the ballot. In particular, Class 4A has a lot of changes this week after Des Moines Hoover, Dowling Catholic and West Des Moines Valley, all in my top 5 last week, dropped games this week.

As a result, Ames -- which has been dominant in four consecutive games -- makes the biggest jump.

Three of my four No. 1s remain the same this week in Iowa City West (4A), Waverly-Shell Rock (3A) and Gladbrook-Reinbeck (1A). I jumped Hinton to the top spot in 2A after Carroll Kuemper and Western Christian lost this past week.

Here is the ballot submitted for this week (next to each team is its record and where I had them on my ballot last week).

The poll will be released Monday afternoon. There will be a poll Dec. 19 before a two-week break because of the holidays.
