Rock Island's Brea Beal and Annawan's Jayde VanHyfte were first team all-staters in Illinois recently by the Associated Press.

The duo has done it again.

VanHyfte was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association’s Class 1A/2A all-state first team, while Beal earned a place on the first team of the IBCA’s Class 3A/4A all-state squad.

Helping lead the Rocks to a 24-8 record, their seventh straight Western Big Six title and a fourth straight 4A regional crown, Beal averaged 22.3 points per game, edging out senior teammate and fellow AP all-stater Chrislyn Carr for the team’s scoring title.

VanHyfte, who helped lead the Bravettes to a 55-game winning streak, registered 27.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. The Arizona State signee led Annawan (34-1) to its eighth consecutive Lincoln Trail Conference regular season and tournament titles as well as a 1A supersectional.

Carr, a Texas Tech recruit, was selected to the second team in 3A/4A.

Moline's Alannah Crompton, who had more than 25 double-doubles this season, was placed on the fourth team in 3A/4A. Geneseo junior Hannah Himmelman earned special mention status.

In 1A/2A, Wethersfield junior Brittney Litton garnered third-team honors after averaging 19.5 points and five rebounds per contest. Sherrard senior Callie Minch was a fourth-team honoree.

Ridgewood senior Carlie Barman, Riverdale sophomore Sidney Garrett and Kewanee senior Mitrese Smith earned special mention status.
