Annawan-Wethersfield's quest for a state quarterfinal berth fell one point short Saturday as the Titans dropped a 21-20 overtime thriller to Princeville.
The Titans (9-2) got the ball first in the overtime period, and Brendon Shaw gave A-W a 20-14 lead on a 3-yard touchdown reception from Coltin Quagliano.
The extra point was missed, however, and Princeville (9-2) took advantage on its overtime drive. Adam Snedden scored his second rushing touchdown of the day for Princes from 5 yards out, and Sam Harshberger converted the PAT, ending the Titans' season.
Jack Arnett got the Princes on the board first in the first quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run.
The Titans then capitalized on a turnover to tie the score at 7, as Shaw picked up a Princeville fumble and ran 35 yards to pay dirt.
Bryan Ponce, who led the Titans with 80 yards rushing on 20 carries, gave the Titans the lead with a 1-yard scoring run in the third quarter, and A-W stayed in front until there were about five minutes left in the game.
That's when Snedden, who supplied the majority of the Princeville offense with 115 yards on 26 carries, got his first TD of the game to tie the score, 14-14.
Quagliano supplied most of the game's passing highlights, completing 10 of 16 passes for 86 yards and an interception to go with the touchdown pass. His favorite target was Shaw, who caught four passes for 50 yards and the touchdown.
