Clinton and Preston host area Iowa state high school football playoff games tonight. Here are the capsules for those games.

Class 4A

Who: No. 8 Cedar Falls (8-2) at No. 1 Clinton (10-0)

Winner gets: Cedar Rapids Xavier/Linn-Mar winner

Record vs. postseason qualifiers: Cedar Falls 3-2; Clinton 7-0

Postseason record: Cedar Falls 30-19; Clinton 2-7

Players to watch: Clinton, Austin Krick (Sr., DL, 92 tackles, 21 tackles for loss); Jake Mangler ((Sr., QB, 53-for-84, 749 yards, 8 TDs, 3 INT); David Johnson (Sr., RB, (Sr., RB, 138 carries, 1,260 yards, 27 TDs). Cedar Falls, Barkley Hill (So., RB, 208 carries, 1,666 yards, 22 TDs); Jake Farley (Sr., QB, 63-for-120, 950 yards, 5 TDs, 5 INT); Jesse Alexander (Sr., WR, 22 catches, 325 yards, 1 TD).

Keys to the game: Clinton leads Class 4A in the early scoring, averaging 30.7 of its 43.9 points before halftime. The River Kings will want to jump on Cedar Falls early, as the Tigers haven't allowed more than two TDs in nine games.

Preston, Jason Feddersen, So., 6-0, QB (12 rushes, 81 yards, 3 TD; 6-for-12, 125 passing yards, 2 TD in 73-0 substate win vs. Clarksville), Luke Assenmacher, Sr., 5-9, FB/LB (8 rushes, 45 yards, 3 TD, 1 receiving TD against Clarksville), Shawn Assenmacher, Sr., 5-11, LB (11 tackles, 2 INT, 1 defensive TD against Clarksville).

Keys to the game: Preston has scored 465 points in 10 games, but Hamilton has 571. Preston will need to show off some of that defense it has emphasized in order to advance.
