KNOXVILLE, Ill. - Kennen Hutchison asked Orion football coach Chip Filler to be a bigger part of the offense this week. Filler, knowing Hutchison's history of big games against the Blue Bullets of Knoxville, obliged and was rewarded.

The senior running back rushed for 129 yards and two scores as the Chargers downed Knoxville 21-18 to advance to the Class 2A quarterfinals next weekend at Morrison.

"I don't know, it's just a great rivalry," Hutchison said when asked about his history on Stamps Field.

Filler was glad the good play extended one more game.

"For whatever reason, he loves to play these guys," Filler said of Hutchison. "He wanted the ball."

Hutchison also landed two punts inside the Knoxville 3 to help swing momentum in the second half.

The Chargers played from behind for the second straight week.

Orion spotted Knoxville a 6-0 lead at halftime. But Jared Simmer picked off a Bryce Ball pass to kill off a potential score. The Charger's next drive sputtered out, but Hutchison pinned Knoxville back at its one-yard line. After not giving up a yard, Orion drove 37 yards for a Hutchison score for their first lead with 1:16 to play in the third quarter.

Hutchison sealed the win in the final 92 seconds - a 27-yard tackle-breaking rumble. Orion's running backs accounted for 216 yards on 33 carries, a 6.5 yard average with 128 of those coming in the second half.

James Matson's leg also contributed to the victory.

Matson connected on all three of his extra-point tries. Knoxville went for two after their three scores, all were unsuccessful.

"They scored three touchdowns, we scored three touchdowns," Matson said. "They didn't score any extra points, we scored three. In a game like this three points is a big difference."
