Athletes of the week
Clasen carried the ball 12 times for 148 yards and tallied six touchdowns in the Comets' 54-13 win over North Cedar. His longest scoring run of the contest was 55 yards. He also had six stops on defense (three TFL and two sacks). In three games, all Bellevue victories, Clasen has rushed for 519 yards and 11 TDs. Behind a talented offensive line, he is averaging 7.5 yards per rush.
Daniel had a big performance in Tipton’s epic five-set win over Class 2A ninth-ranked Wilton last Thursday. She recorded a team-high 28 kills, delivered 27 assists and posted 24 digs. She also had two service aces and a block for the Tigers, who rallied from two sets down. Daniel is among the top 10 in the River Valley Conference in kills, assists and service aces.
School: North Scott
Rus rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns last Thursday in North Scott’s 27-7 win over Davenport Central. The 6-foot-2 and 205-pounder averaged almost 9 yards per carry, including a 73-yard scoring run in the second half. He also was active on defense with a team-high seven tackles, two for loss. For the season, Rus has ran for 529 yards and seven touchdowns.

Alleman boys golf
Last week: defeated Sherrard in a dual
Alleman topped Sherrard 140-162 Tuesday in a dual meet at Fyre Lake Golf Course in Sherrard. The Pioneers, who are 9-0 on the season, shot even par as a team in the meet. Hunter Love and Ryan Rochholz were co-medalists, both firing 1-under 34s over nine holes.
Last week: won 13 of 14 possible sets in six matches
Coach Diane Lichtenberg’s squad rolled past Davenport North last Tuesday, and then followed with a 5-0 mark to claim the North Scott Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs, who dropped only one set in the tournament, defeated Class 4A top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier in the finale 25-11, 25-23. Bettendorf recorded 16 blocks in the final, including four each from Ally Grothusen and Lita Solbrig.

The Chargers have won five consecutive matches to improve to 8-3 on the season. They knocked off Fulton 25-7, 25-13 on Monday night to move their Three Rivers West Division mark to 4-0. Sophomore Mackenzie Grafton had eight service aces in the match. Outside hitter Sarah Jacobsen led the offense with 10 kills, and Cassidy Schultz chipped in 16 digs.
