Brea Beal

Sport: Basketball

Year: Sophomore

She was named the Dearrel Bates MVP of the IHMVCU Shootout after scoring 32 points on 13 of 15 shooting along with nine rebounds in a 65-54 win against North. Beal also had 22 points in three quarters vs. Galesburg last Thursday.

Mason Lyons

School: Bellevue

Sport: Wrestling

Year: Senior

He was named the most outstanding senior wrestler at the Northeast Invitational last Saturday after pinning his opponent in the final. With 109 victories, Lyons passed Joe Kilburg as the program's all-time wins leader.

Dev Patel

School: Camanche

Sport: Boys basketball

Year: Junior

The point guard averaged 23.5 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2 steals for the Indians last week in victories against North Cedar and Durant. Patel converted 19 of 34 shots in helping Camanche earn a No. 9 state ranking.

The Pioneers have won seven of their last eight games, including the championship of the KSB-Sterling Newman Classic. Most recently, Alleman beat Bureau Valley by 19 points. Nathan Graves, Jake Shelton, Ryan Hodge and Andrew Barrett have been key contributors during the stretch.

Assumption boys basketball

Last week: defeated Cedar Rapids Xavier, Davenport North

The Knights knocked off Class 3A defending state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier, 62-60, and then rallied from a double-digit deficit to clip Davenport North, 59-57. The victories powered Assumption (6-3) into the state rankings for the first time since coach Matt Fitzpatrick's arrival.

Moline wrestling

Last week: defeated Bettendorf, Rock Island

The Maroons (17-3) upended rivals Bettendorf 39-23 and Rock Island 36-28, with the latter win possibly setting up a fourth consecutive Western Big Six title. Paladin Martinez (132), Jayden Terronez (145) and Cobie Underwood (285) had wins in both duals.
