Quincy High School is looking for its fourth head football coach in six years after firing Butch Kuras last week.
Kuras was dismissed by the QHS board of education after declining to resign. Superintendent Joe Bocke told the Quincy Herald-Whig that the public's "confidence in (Kuras') coaching abilities has eroded."
The Western Big Six Conference's perennial doormat, the Blue Devils were 0-20 in the league and 5-31 in four seasons under Kuras.
Kuras replaced Chuck Budde, who was fired before he could complete his first full season in 1997. Budde had replaced Ray Face, who resigned under pressure in 1996.
Quincy has had just two winning football seasons since 1974. The Devils were 5-4 in 1985 and 7-3 in 1986. Quincy has endured nine winless seasons and another five one-win campaigns.
