Bettendorf's boys soccer team leaned on a stingy defense to accumulate 16 victories in 18 matches. Davenport Assumption had a prolific offense.

The Bulldogs and Knights, the two programs to represent the Quad-Cities at the state tournament this spring, lead the annual Quad-City Times All-Area team.

Center fullback Jack Dunn, the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year, is one of four Bettendorf players on the top two teams. He is joined on the first team by junior midfielder Blake Rollinger. Forward Brant Mueller and fullback Mason Chin are on the second team.

Bettendorf did not surrender a goal in nine Mississippi Athletic Conference matches and registered 15 shutouts for the season en route to its third-place finish at the Class 3A state tournament.

Dunn was the backbone of that defense. The 6-foot-2 Bradley recruit was a first team all-state selection for the second straight season.

Assumption, the state runner-up in 1A, also has four individuals on the top two teams. Striker Trent Fitzpatrick, all-state midfielder Sam Moore and defender Alex Terrell are on the first team along with second-team forward Ben Beutel.

Moore and Fitzpatrick combined for 43 goals and 20 assists this season, the top two point scorers in the MAC.

Western Big Six champion Moline and MAC runner-up Pleasant Valely each had two first-team selections.

Moline is led by forward Abdoulaye Diawara and defender Gavin Graham. PV is represented by midfielder Owen Ward and keeper Josh Stivers.

Davenport Central's Dario Gonzalez (20 goals), Clinton Prince of Peace all-stater Seth Moeller (33 goals) and West Liberty's Martin Menjivar-Benagas (22 goals, 11 assists) round out the top team.
