When: Saturday, noon

Where: Clinton High School

Teams: Bettendorf, Burlington, Clinton, Davenport Central, Davenport North, Davenport West, Muscatine, Pleasant Valley

At stake: A trip to next Saturday's state swimming meet, held at the Marshalltown YMCA pool.

Who qualifies? The fastest 24 individuals and relay teams from district competition from around the state qualify for the state meet.

Need to know: Muscatine put forth a strong effort at last season's district meet in Iowa City, finishing second with 332.5 points. However, the Muskies didn't win an event title and only sent one swimmmer, in one event, to the state meet. Isaac Heth, then a sophomore, finished 22nd in the 200 freestyle at the Marshalltown YMCA in 1 minute, 49 seconds. Heth leads a Muscatine team with more depth this season as the Muskies look to get a few more swimmers to state with the help of Daylon Shelangoski, John Wieskamp, Wade Whiteside, Scott Schafer and Kyle Schoer, among others.
