Emilia Porubcin finished her high school tennis career with a coveted state championship. Pleasant Valley and Alleman did something its girls programs have never done before.
In addition to Porubcin, the Quad-City Times All-Area girls team has a heavy dose of PV and Alleman players.
The Spartans, who went 18-0 in duals and won their first Class 2A state team title, have three on the first team with singles standout Lily Feldman and doubles team of Hannah Humes and Emily Nutt.
Alleman, which earned its first team trophy with a third-place state finish in 1A last fall, has two singles players -- Lily Schoeck and Brenna Hogan -- along with the doubles team of Mary Grevas and Ellie Rouse on the top team.
After three third-place finishes at state tournament, Porubcin did not drop a set in four matches at 2A state tournament. She avenged a regional final loss to Cedar Rapids Prairie's Vale Caro in the state final.
The boys team features six singles players from six different schools. The group is led by four-time Iowa state place winner and first team all-stater Sriram Sugumaran of Pleasant Valley and Shaddy Khalafallah of Moline.
Mississippi Athletic Conference champion Bettendorf had three on the top team -- Jacob Panjwani (singles) and the doubles team of Isaac Luebke and Yash Singh, which finished third at state tournament.
Shaddy Khalafallah, jr., Moline: The Western Big Six and Class 2A sectional champion compiled a 27-7 record in singles after going 2-2 at state tournament. Returned to Moline after spending his sophomore year at Trent Tucker Tennis Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Joey Miller, jr., Alleman: Finished as the Big Six runner-up and 1A Princeton sectional champion. A two-time state qualifier, he concluded with an 18-9 record after going 1-2 at state tournament.
Jacob Panjwani, jr., Bettendorf: Conference champion at the No. 2 singles flight, Panjwani claimed a district championship and finished seventh place at 2A state tournament. He was 19-1 in singles during the regular season and won 35 of 39 sets.
Joseph Shie, sr., Davenport Central: A state qualifier in doubles with brother Andrew, Shie was MAC runner-up at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Bound to play tennis at Augustana College, Shie was 9-3 during regular season and 133-74 in games.
Sriram Sugumaran, sr., Pleasant Valley: The MAC singles champion at No. 1, Sugumaran won district title and placed fifth at 2A state tournament with a 27-2 record -- losses coming to state champion and state runner-up. Headed to play at Grinnell College, four-time state placewinner finished career 80-3 in singles.
Teddy Weaver, sr., North Scott: Believed to be North Scott's first boys' state qualifier in tennis, Weaver took fourth place at MAC in No. 1 singles flight, was runner-up at districts and collected one win at state. He was 12-9 during regular season.
Isaac Luebke, sr./Yash Singh, so., Bettendorf: Finished third at the 2A state tournament, second consecutive year inside the top four. The MAC No. 1 doubles champions dropped only one match all season, that coming in the state semifinals.
Ben Woeber, sr./Jesse Dyer, fr., Alleman: Woeber and Dyer teamed up to go 17-3. They won the Big Six title and took fourth at the sectional tournament. Woeber is a three-time state qualifier.
Avery Dunker, sr./Mick Haverland, jr., Geneseo: The pair won a sectional title in helping Geneseo claim its first team sectional crown. They were 2-2 at the state tournament.

Hannah Borgh, sr., Bettendorf: First team all-conference selection was MAC champion at No. 2 singles flight and placed third at regionals behind eventual top two state place winners. Borgh, who didn't drop a match at No. 2 singles, won No. 1 MAC doubles crown with Emilia Porubcin.
Stephanie Bush, sr., Assumption: First team all-MAC choice placed third at conference tournament in top singles flight, was a regional runner-up and took fifth at 1A state tournament (won four straight-set matches). Finished season with more than 15 singles victories.
Lily Feldman, jr., Pleasant Valley: Finished inside the top four at the 2A state tournament in singles for third straight year. The MAC champion at No. 1 flight was 21-2 in singles and led Spartans to their first team state championship. Feldman was 34-4 in sets and 247-70 in games.
Brenna Hogan, sr., Alleman: Took second at the Big Six meet behind teammate Lily Schoeck and placed fourth at 1A sectional tournament to qualify for state meet.
Emilia Porubcin, sr., Bettendorf: Four-time state place winner became Bettendorf's first state singles champion in a decade. She beat the Nos. 1, 2 and 4 seeds while not dropping a set en route to the title. Runner-up at MAC and regionals, Porubcin was 17-2 in singles. She teamed with Borgh for conference doubles title.
Lily Schoeck, so., Alleman: Was Moline and Galesburg invitational champion along with taking Big Six singles title and finishing third at sectionals. She was in top 12 at 1A state meet and compiled 31-5 mark, helping Pioneers to a third-place finish.
Mary Grevas, sr./Ellie Rouse, sr. Alleman: Placed first in doubles at Big Six tournament and Galesburg Invitational. Doubles team was sectional runner-up and finished in top 12 at 1A state tournament as Pioneers earned team trophy with third-place finish.
Hannah Humes, sr./Emily Nutt, sr., Pleasant Valley: Teamed for 2A regional title and fell one win short of placing at state. Humes and Nutt clinched team crown for PV with super tiebreak doubles win at No. 1 against Dowling Catholic. They were a combined 29-4 in singles at Nos. 2 and 3.
Riley Hubbart, sr.,/Kiersten Housenga, jr., Clinton: Third place at No. 1 doubles flight in MAC tournament, Hubbart and Housenga qualified for 2A state tournament with regional runner-up finish. Team's top two singles players teamed for one victory at state tournament.
