Quad-City Mallards forward Marc Rechlicz has been suspended for one game for a head-butt he denies took place last week.

The young Mallards enforcer, who scored his first goal of the season Sunday, will miss Saturday's Mallards game at Muskegon.

Mallards coach Frank Anzalone said he was informed of the suspension Wednesday.

He said it resulted from a league review of an incident Friday in Fort Wayne, where Komets' veteran Colin Chaulk alleged Rechlicz head-butted him during a third-period fight.

Fort Wayne coach Al Sims requested the review.

"Marc said he never head-butted him," Anzalone said.

The coach said Rechlicz merely was leaning in to ask Chaulk, traditionally a non-fighter, why he was taking Rechlicz on.

"I watched myself," Anzalone said of video of the incident. "I never see a head-butt."

Brad Jones, IHL vice-president of hockey operations, disagreed, but Anzalone said he was told the contact seemed light enough to merit only the single-game sitdown.
