The Quad-City Mallards continue to bolster their offense, signing forwards Ryan McGrath and Matt Pohlkamp Tuesday.

McGrath, 26, scored 25 goals and added 33 assists for 58 points in 42 games as a rookie last year with EC Harzer Falken in the German Oberliga last season. The 5-foot-7, 175-pound O'Fallon, Missouri played in four games and scored one goal for the Manchester Monarchs late in the 2016 season after finishing his senior season at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

While with the River Hawks, McGrath scored 25 goals and added 35 assists for 60 points in 139 games, helping the team reach the Division I Frozen Four for the first time in school history as a freshman.

“Ryan is a highly competitive player who has the skills to match that competitiveness,” Mallards coach Phil Axtell said. “He was part of a program at Lowell that took great pride in winning and paying attention to details. Ryan can play both wing and center which is always a great asset to have.”

Pohlkamp, 24, scored one goal and added two assists in his first professional action with the Toledo Walleye last spring. The 6-foot, 200-pound Baxter, Minnesota native turned pro after completing his collegiate career at Bowling Green. Last year he scored 13 goals and added 10 assists in 40 games and scored 38 goals and added 50 assists in 160 games with the Falcons.

“Matt is a workhorse. He’ll be the first guy on the ice at practice and the one being chased off the ice by the Zamboni afterward,” Axtell said. “He has a team-first mentality and will add depth."

The Mallards roster is now up to 15 players, 12 of whom are forwards.
