The Quad-City Mallards extended qualifying offers to eight players Monday.
The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until Aug. 1 at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the player to any salary or elect to take no further action.
Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the ECHL rights to that player for one full season.
Goaltender C.J. Motte, defensemen Andrew Panzarella and Andrew Kuqali, and forwards Michael Parks, Alex Petan, Justin Kovacs, Kyle Novak and Jack Nevins all received qualifying offers.
Petan recently signed to play overseas with HC Bolzano, an Italian hockey team. The Mallards will retain his ECHL rights for all of next season.
