The Quad-City Mallards traded forward Nolan LaPorte to the Florida Everblades Wednesday in exchange for future considerations.
LaPorte scored 14 goals and added 30 assists in 65 games for the Mallards in his rookie season last year.
"Nolan requested a trade to Florida after last season to be closer and more available to his parents who live not far from the Everblades' arena," Mallards coach Phil Axtell said. "We'd like to thank Nolan for being part of a memorable season here in the Quad-Cities and wish him the best of luck in the future."
LaPorte isn't the only Mallard from last season to find a roster spot elsewhere for next season.
Last year's leading goal scorer Michael Parks signed to play overseas with Sport in the Finnish elite league Liiga Wednesday. Parks scored 29 goals and added 27 assists last season. He finished third among rookies in goals and fifth among rookies in points last year.
Former defenseman Mike Monfredo, who was traded midseason from the Mallards to the Rapid City Rush, signed with the Orlando Solar Bears Tuesday. Monfredo left the Mallards sixth all-time in games played with 312, 10th in assists with 103 and sixth in penalty minutes with 475.
