Forward Mike Stinziani scored two goals as the Quad-City Mallards beat the Brampton Beast 3-2 Monday night at Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ont.
Stinziani opened up the scoring for the Mallards at the 13-minute, 52-second mark of the first period against a team the Mallards had played three times in four nights.
Jim McKenzie's high-sticking double major penalty at 15:56 gave the Beast a four-minute power play and Andrew Fournier scored at 17:42 to tie the game back up.
Matt Boyd scored shorthanded at 18:15 to give the Mallards the 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Boyd's goal was the sixth shorthanded goal for the Mallards, who lead the league in shorthanded goals this season.

Mallards defenseman Matt Duffy took a tripping penalty 43 seconds into the second period, and Josh McQuade capitalized on the ensuing power play to tie the game at 2-2. Stinziani's second goal of the night, and team-leading eleventh on the season gave the Mallards the lead back at 5:12 in the period.
Both goaltenders played strong, with Mallards goalie Thomas Heemskerk stopping 27 shots and Beast goaltender Kristofer Westblom stopping 30.
The win give the Mallards their third-straight one-goal victory over the Beast and fifth-straight win this season, a season high. The win also propels the Mallards into sole possession of third place in the standings with 35 points.
