The final round of qualifying for the annual Brady Street Sprints is scheduled for tonight on Pershing Avenue in Davenport.
And when the finals of the event are held on July 27, it will have a new sponsor.
Quad-City Times Bix 7 race director Ed Froehlich announced this week that Genesis Orthopedic Hospital will serve as the title sponsor for the quarter-mile uphill sprint event that serves as the kickoff to Bix weekend.
The sprints have had a variety of sponsors during their 17-year existence and Froehlich had been unable to secure a sponsor for this year.
“But Genesis really stepped up,’’ he said. “I’m very happy that they’re going to do this.’’
The final round of the qualifying will be at 7 p.m. tonight and, as it was last week, it will be on Pershing because of ongoing construction on Brady.
The last of the four Bix at Six training runs also will be held tonight, at 6 p.m., and it also will use Pershing.
Brady Street is expected to be ready in time for both the sprints on July 27 and the 43rd annual Bix 7 on July 29.
