A 5k road race will be held Sept. 15 in Bettendorf to benefit the Brett Greenwood Foundation.

The Run 3 for 30 trail run and walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Crow Creek Park.

Greenwood, a former Pleasant Valley High School and University of Iowa football star, suffered brain damage when his heart stopped beating during a workout on Sept. 9, 2011. He wore jersey No. 30 during his Hawkeye career, in which he recorded 229 tackles and 12 interceptions and twice earned second team All-Big Ten honors.

Entries are being accepted at getmeregistered.com through Sept. 13. Packet pickup will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bettendorf Life Fitness Center and Sunday from 6:30 to 8 a.m. at Crow Creek.
