Iowa returned from the NCAA Wrestling Championships with a third-place trophy and one individual champion among a collection of six all-Americans.

Coach Tom Brands wants more, saying the Hawkeyes lack the needed firepower to challenge a Penn State team which has won team titles the past two years.

“The philosophy of this program is that we want to be where (individual champ Matt) McDonough is,” he said. “I don’t like where we’re at. We don’t have the firepower at every weight that we need and that is something we have to develop.”

Iowa collected bonus points in just nine of 30 victories at the NCAA meet with McDonough responsible for four.
