The new Kone Centre tower in downtown Moline is on track to break ground in 2010, Kone’s executive vice president said Thursday.
At a safety celebration at Kone’s escalator plant in Coal Valley, Vance Tang fielded an employee question about the new building — and whether the company would continue its Christmas tree tradition.
Tang said while plans still are being revised for the new office tower, the groundbreaking was on schedule. He added that Kone — the building’s anchor tenant — will take occupancy in late 2011.
The new tower, which will be built north of Bass Street Landing, will consolidate all of Kone’s downtown Moline operations.
As for the 40-year holiday tradition, “the first time we showed pictures to people based in Moline, we showed it with the Christmas tree on top,” he said.
