Ruhl & Ruhl Realtors has named Chris Beason the company's new president, making him the fifth generation of the Ruhl family to lead the 156-year-old company.

"I am honored and humbled to build upon the strong foundation laid by prior generations," Beason said, crediting his grandfather, Charles Ruhl, and mother, Caroline Ruhl, "for putting the company in a great position."

Founded in 1862, Ruhl is the largest independently owned real estate brokerage in Iowa.

Beason's promotion to president comes as Caroline Ruhl, who was the president, transitions into the job of CEO.

"It's a great thing for both of us. We're still trying to define what that means for both of us," Beason said. "We are blessed to have a great team of staff and agents."

Born and raised in the Quad-Cities, Beason, 33, is a 2006 graduate of the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Before joining Ruhl & Ruhl in 2009 as a sales associate, he worked for two nationally recognized real estate agencies, The Norton Agency in Gainesville, Georgia, and The Group Inc., Fort Collins, Colorado.

"I'm proud to announce Chris as president," said Caroline Ruhl. "He will continue our company's tradition of integrity, extraordinary service, and giving back to the communities we serve."

Beason has served in several positions at Ruhl & Ruhl including managing sales offices in DeWitt, Maquoketa, Moline, Bettendorf and Iowa City. He most recently served as general sales manager.

"Caroline was always adamant about getting the sales experience in so I could understand what the agents go through and get to know the boots on the ground," Beason said.

In addition to serving as president, he also is a partner in NAI Ruhl Commercial Co, Ruhl Mortgage and Nelson Brothers Agency.
