MOLINE — The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host Angela Cervantes at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at at Stoney Creek Inn, 101 18th St., Moline as part of its 2018-2019 Multicultural Speaker Series.

Cervantes wrote the junior novelization of Disney Pixar’s animated film, Coco. She will share her experiences and her journey to becoming a writer.

The Multicultural Speaker Series seeks to provide an opportunity for attendees to enhance cultural awareness, increase integration into the community, and expand networks across community sectors. The series is sponsored by Black Hawk College and Eastern Iowa Community Colleges; WQPT is a media sponsor.

Cervantes first novel — Gaby, Lost and Found — was named Best Youth Chapter book by the International Latino Book Awards and a Bank Street College of Education’s Best Books of 2014.
