Rock Island-based IMEG Corp. announced Tuesday that it has acquired BLW Security Group, a security consulting and engineering firm based near Austin, Texas, effective Jan. 1.
With roots going back to 1982, BLW was formed in 2014 under the leadership of Ray Blackwell, Charles LeBlanc and David Waldron, a group with more than 70 years of combined experience.
The 13-person firm specializes in developing advanced security measures for new and existing facilities around the globe and across many markets including health care, education, hospitality, government, industrial, science & technology and transportation. BLW uses electronic and operational security elements to provide architecturally unobtrusive, but intensive large-scale security systems and programs, according to a news release announcing the acquisition.
In the release, IMEG President and CEO Paul VanDuyne said the merger "brings IMEG an enhanced service line focused on advanced security measures and expands our already strong technology group."
Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
He added that BLW's project and market experience "dovetails nicely with ours, and they have a long-time working relationship with the former JanCom Technologies, also in Austin, which joined IMEG one year ago."
"Our holistic approach to next-generation security is highly regarded throughout the construction and security industries," said BLW’s David Waldron, in the release. "The merger with IMEG provides us with an expanded ability to bring our expertise to new clients and provide existing clients with additional resources."
IMEG said the firm will continue to do business as BLW Security Group, a Division of IMEG, for the next several months. Eventually the BLW team members will join IMEG’s Austin-based Technology Team. The acquisition will bring IMEG's corporate-wide technology group to more than 70 professionals.
Headquartered in the Quad-Cities, IMEG Corp. is one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S. with more than 30 offices and a staff of 1,200 team members. It was formed in 2015 through a merger of Rock Island-based KJWW Corp. and TTG Corp.
