Jersey Mike’s Subs is holding its grand opening today for its new Davenport store.
Franchise owners Aron and Camilla Lees will hold a free sub fundraiser beginning today through Sunday to support McKinley Elementary and again Monday to Oct. 1 to support Sudlow Intermediate School.
Located at 2124 Kimberly Road, Jersey Mike's is offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to McKinley Elementary and Sudlow Intermediate schools. To be eligible, customers must have one of the 10,000 coupons circulated throughout the Quad-Cities.
"We know the impact the teachers and staff of these local schools have on the children and what a difference they can make in their lives," said Aron Lees. "We are extremely excited to be able to help them and create lifelong relationships with the staff, the children and their families."
Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised $25 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 1.5 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes. This year, the company’s 7th Annual Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving in March raised more than $5.5 million for nearly 150 charities throughout the country.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. The store can be contacted at (563) 359-4500.
Founded in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,500 restaurants open and under development nationwide. Jersey Mike’s was named the country’s fastest-growing Limited Service Chain this year and fastest-growing sandwich chain in the 2017 Nation’s Restaurant News Top 100.
Its sandwiches are known to be made "Mike’s Way" with fresh vegetables topped off with a zing of “the juice” – a blend of red wine vinegar and olive oil. Meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot and piled on in-store baked bread. It also has a reputation for the neighborly banter between staff and customers.
