ROCK ISLAND — Two new stores are opening at The Shoppes on 2nd in downtown Rock Island, according to the Development Association of Rock Island.
The Shoppes on 2nd is a retail business incubator at 1700 2nd Ave.
Wild Cherry Spoon Co. opened Oct. 31. It plans a formal grand opening on Nov. 24 in conjunction with Small Business Saturday and the 3rd Annual That Dam Shopping Trip.
Brick and Motor Boutique plans its grand opening 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3.
Sisters and co-owners Lauren Corwin and Haley Walker opened a mobile fashion boutique this summer; this adds a brick and mortar location for the winter.
DARI President/CEO Brian Hollenback stressed the importance of focusing on small business.
"Our SEED Rock Island programs continue to align resources to assist small business and help spur local job creation in our home community, which is key in giving Rock Island a competitive edge," Hollenback said.
