Dry Goods, a boutique retailer owned by department store chain Von Maur, announced it will open 12 new stores as part of a national expansion — including one at NorthPark Mall in Davenport.
"We are excited to continue driving the tremendous success Dry Goods has experienced with the opening of several new locations throughout the year, and we look forward to delivering a distinctive shopping experience to shoppers across the country," Jim von Maur, president of Von Maur, said.
Dry Goods USA, a subsidiary of the Davenport-based Von Maur, first introduced the brand in 2010 with a store in Aurora, Illinois. Today, a total of 27 Dry Goods stores operate in eight states. The expansion will bring the Quad-Cities its first Dry Goods.
These new locations are:
- Opening in the spring: The Shoppes at Grand Prairie, Peoria, Illinois; Polaris Fashion Place and Tuttle Crossing, both in Columbus, Ohio; and West Acres, Fargo, North Dakota.
- Opening in summer: NorthPark Mall as well as Westroads Mall, Omaha; Crossroads Mall, Kalamazoo, Mich.; The Greene, Dayton, Ohio; St. Louis Galleria and West County Center, both in St. Louis, Mo.
- Opening in the fall: Columbia Mall, Columbia, Mo.; and Summit Mall, Akron, Ohio.
In a news release, von Maur added "Our merchandise assortment is perfect for young customers wanting to create a look inspired by the latest fashion trends."
Dry Goods caters to young women with its ever-changing selection of apparel, accessories and gifts in an inviting store atmosphere. The Dry Goods name was inspired by Von Maur's roots as a dry goods store in 1872 in downtown Davenport.
The announcement marks the second new store to be announced at NorthPark Mall in the past three weeks. H&M, Hennes and Mauritz Inc., announced plans to will open its first Iowa location at NorthPark in the fall. H&M, one of the world's largest fashion retailers, plans to open a 20,000-square-feet-store.
