Why was student nominated? "Letizia has come to class EVERY day this year with the brightest smile on her face and the deepest desire to learn more," said teacher Mr. DeHoff. "Letizia is a friend to all in my class. She's kind, respectful, and caring to both peers and faculty throughout the day. As a teacher, it's rewarding to see Letizia greeting others in the classroom, asking teachers how their day is doing, and simply doing whatever she can to help around the classroom just out of the kindness in her heart. She does not reach out to others in order to receive attention or gratification from teachers, she just has an internal drive to be accepting! Letizia's desire to learn is INFECTIOUS! The powerful questions she asks of her classmates guides conversations forward and she always has a meaningful connection to share with the class that is meant to help others learn. When talking about why it's SO important to appreciate other's differences, and understand that our different traits and talents make us unique, Letizia helped the class to understand that "if we don't value people's differences then we would never learn. We'd never learn about new ideas, different cultures, & we'd never have the chance to meet new people." Letizia is an incredible young student with the warmest heart that I absolutely believe is worthy of being the Student of the Week.
