1. Football exhibit kicks off
The Putnam Museum will soon display a new exhibit dedicated to all-things pro football. "Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame" opens Saturday at the Putnam, 1717 W 12th St., Davenport. The traveling exhibit features artifacts, rare photos, one-of-a-kind documents from the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well as footage from NFL Films' film archives. You can get a sneak peek of the exhibit at a special tailgate kick-off party on Friday featuring live music, food and drinks and a meet-and-greet with former Hawkeye and NFL pro Julian Vandervelde. Tickets to the exhibit cost $15 for adults.
2. Bacon and Beer Fest
Check out the Bacon and Beer Festival, featuring, yes, tons of bacon and beer samples, on Saturday at the RiverCenter, 136 E. 3rd St., Davenport. Over a dozen local restaurants will offer bacon-centered dishes to pair with your choice of over 100 different local and national craft beers. VIP admission opens at 5 p.m. and costs $55. General admission opens at 6 p.m. and costs $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the event.
3. Summer Camp showcase
Four Quad-City bands will battle it out for a chance to win a slot at Summer Camp, the mega music festival held in May in Chillicothe, Illinois. Bands include The Velies, Dr Dometone, Jenny Lynn Stacy and the Dirty Roosters and Sister Wife with music beginning at 8 p.m. Friday at the Redstone Room, 129 N. Main St., Davenport.
4. QCSO's next Masterworks
The latest in the Quad-City Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks series features a set list inspired by Venice. In the fourth Masterworks, called "Postcards from Venice," hear Rossini’s "La scala di seta Overture," Arban’s trumpet showpiece, "Carnival of Venice," Liszt’s "The Black Gondola," Stravinsky’s "Pulcinella Suite" and more with performances scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday at the Adler Theatre, 136 E. 3rd St., Davenport and 2 p.m. Sunday at Augustana College's Centennial Hall. 5. 'Sleuth' at Black Box Theatre
For the first show of its second season, The Black Box Theatre is presenting a production of the mystery thriller "Sleuth." The Tony award-winning whodunit continues this weekend. 6. Mike and the Moonpies on Super Bowl Sunday
Take a break from football-watching on Super Bowl Sunday with a show from Mike and the Moonpies, a country/Americana group from Austin, Texas, at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar and Raccoon Motel, 304 E. 3rd St., Davenport.
