1. Elton John at the TaxSlayer

Elton John is taking the stage this weekend at the TaxSlayer Center, formerly the iWireless Center, 1201 River Drive, Moline. Currently on his "Wonderful Crazy Night Tour,""Rocket Man" singer is slated to perform at 8 p.m. Friday at the TaxSlayer Center. 2. Tim Hawkins' Christian comedy 

Have you seen Tim Hawkins' parody of Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel?" About 6 million people have. His version, "Cletus, Take the Reel," is just one of the popular parodies by the Christian comedian, songwriter and singer, who is coming to Davenport this weekend. 3. The Way Down Wanderers 

The Way Down Wanderers, an Americana group based in Chicago, are returning this week to the Redstone Room, 129 N. Main St., Davenport. River Valley Rangers will open up the night of modern folk/bluegrass music starting at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For more info, visit

4. Meet Buddy the 'Elf'

"Elf," the on-stage version of the 2003 Christmas movie starring Will Ferrell, is opening this week at Circa '21. Shows are set for 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 5:45 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday through Dec. 30 at Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse, 1828 3rd Ave., Rock Island. Tickets cost $51.73 for the evening performances, which include a five entree buffet. 5. Water Party 

The annual Water Party fundraiser features wine, beer and whiskey tastings as well as food from chef Chad Cushman, formerly known as the Crepe Guy, raffles and silent auctions on the third floor of the Redstone Building, 131 W. 2nd St., Davenport. It starts at 7 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds from the Water Party will fund repairs to an existing water well or construction of a new system in the village of Njiro, Tanzania. Empower Tanzania, an Iowa-based nonprofit organization, will commission the work. Tickets cost $40. For more info, visit 

6. 'Almost, Maine'

The Q-C Theatre Workshop's sixth season continues with performances of "Almost, Maine." It opens Friday and runs next weekend as well.
