1. Winter cocktails

Warm up with set of winter-ready cocktails at Cool Beanz Coffee Shop, 1325 30th St., Rock Island. The shop is serving up hot toddies, mulled wine and other during its "Hot Hooch" party starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

2. Gingerbread stout 

Great River Brewery is tapping one of its annual holiday favorites, the Gingerbread Stout, which is brewed with crystallized ginger, locally harvested honey, spices and a touch of molasses. The tapping starts at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 at the brewery, 332 E. 2nd St., Davenport.  

3. Wine dinner

4. Health by chocolate 

Good news: Chocolate can be good for us. That's the subject of this event, called Health by Chocolate, at Natural Grocers where a nutritional health coach will share some of the health benefits of chocolate. Samples will also be available. It starts at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 at Natural Grocers, 3805 E. 53rd St., Davenport. 

5. Kids' Thanksgiving cooking class

6. Wonderful Winter Squash

Greatest Grains is hosting a free cooking class celebrating all the versatile winter squash. The class will feature butternut, acorn, carnival and other varieties of squash. The list of samples include roasted red onions and delicata squash, brussels sprouts and roasted winter squash hash and quinoa brownies with butternut puree.
