The Quad-City Symphony will present “Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert” on June 1 in two performances at the Adler Theatre, Davenport, featuring screenings of the complete film with Oscar-winning composer John Williams’ score performed live.
Tickets for the 2 and 7:30 p.m. shows go on sale Nov. 19, with symphony season subscribers receiving early access starting on Oct. 19, available at QCSO.org, 563-322-7276, or at the box office at 327 Brady St., Davenport.
John Williams is well-known for scoring all eight of the “Star Wars” saga films to date, beginning with 1977’s “Star Wars: A New Hope,” for which he earned an Academy Award for Best Original Score. His scores for “The Empire Strikes Back,” “Return of the Jedi,” “The Force Awakens” and most recently, “The Last Jedi” were each nominated for Best Original Score.
Williams has won five Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, seven British Academy Film Awards, five Emmys and 23 Grammy Awards. In 2005, the American Film Institute selected Williams' score to “A New Hope” as the greatest American film score of all time.
