FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Kaleb Matthew Shondel, 21, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Davenport, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2018. Kaleb was born a son of Nicholas Smallwood and Leslie (Shondel) Vanlandschoot on May 10, 1997, in Davenport. The family will greet friends during visitation at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, on Saturday, October 13, 2018, from noon to 2 p.m. with a private family service to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NAMI.
He was a graduate of Davenport Central High School and was currently employed as a feed lot technician in Greeley, Colorado. Kaleb enjoyed the theater and was involved in high school productions as well as in college at Waldorf College in Forrest City, Iowa.
Kaleb was a person with a contagious smile, a grin from ear to ear. His warm and loving personality was seen by all who knew him. He was fun-loving and a jokester, loved singing goofy songs and using silly voices, especially with his sisters.
Kaleb was an outdoorsman at heart. He liked to go hiking, camping and paddle boarding. He had a passion for food and loved to eat. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and loved online gaming with his friends.
Those missing him deeply include his father, Nicholas Smallwood; mother and step-father, Leslie (Amos) Vanlandschoot of Davenport; siblings, Makenna, Rhiannon, Piper and Brooks; maternal grandparents, Richard and Katherine Shondel; maternal great-grandmother, Charlotte Whitehall; paternal grandparents, Melanie (Steven) Smallwood-Bartlet; paternal great-grandmother, Carletta Campbell; step-paternal grandparents, Daniel and Judith Vanlandschoot; and Kaleb's loving companion of five years, Maggie Carr.
