Public rosary today in Bettendorf
At noon Saturday, a public rosary will be held at the southwest corner of Middle Road and Spruce Hills Drive, Bettendorf. Parking is available and all Christians are invited, said Bill Grothus, an organizer. The event is intended to help reduce the amount of killing and hate in the world, he said.
Steak Supper returns to Moline church
A family-style steak supper will be held in the activity center of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 13th St., Moline. The event is 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday and includes coleslaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, pie or cake and beverage. A ground beef option is available. For information, call 309-764-0619.
Temple Baptist hosts Breast Cancer Lunch
"Life of the Survivors" is the theme of this year's Breast Cancer Lunch, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Temple Baptist Church, 3526 N. Brady St., Davenport.
There is no charge, but a freewill offering will be collected. Proceeds go to the African American Breast Cancer support group in the Quad-Cities. Call 563-386-0874 for information.
Trinity Cathedral hosts Oxfam event
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Davenport, will host an Oxfam Hunger Banquet to raise awareness of global hunger. The event is 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 22 i the parish hall. The hope is to give participants a better understanding of world hunger, according to Margery Franklin, an organizer, who said that 98 percent of world hunger occurs in developing nations. Attendees will pay $5 and pick a ticket to entitle them to a full meal, or as little as a half cup of rice and water, which is what 50 percent of the world's population has on a daily basis, she said. Third Missionary Baptist plans events
The annual Robert Couch Memorial Scholarship Musical will be 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Third Missionary Baptist Church, 222 W. 14th St. Davenport. The musical fundraiser is by the Royal Harmoneers.
Also at the church, the annual Fall Revival, "Preparing to do Ministry in the 21st Century," and Bible Institute will be Oct. 24-26 at 6 p.m. daily. The Rev. Jesse Bottoms, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., will be the guest evangelist. Bottoms is also a regional vice president with the National Baptist Convention.
Trunk-or-Treat planned at Two Rivers church
Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, hosts the third annual Trunk or Treat event from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 22 in the west parking lot of the church. Two Rivers is located at 1820 5th Ave., Rock Island. Refreshments, games, activities, and trick-or-treating will be available at the family-friendly event.
