The Local Notice to Mariners, or LNM, is the primary means for disseminating information concerning aids to navigation, hazards to navigation, and other items of marine information of interest to mariners on U.S. waterways.
These notices are available weekly to all navigators who keep charts.
Each U.S. Coast Guard District is responsible for issuing LNMs, which are developed from information received from Coast Guard field units, general public, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other sources.
The dissemination of LNMs is facilitated by the navigation center at the Coast Guard’s Navigation Center of Excellence in Alexandria, Va.
