It is well-known you can get free drinks for signing up for Starbucks Rewards and earn more freebies with purchases.
A free membership also offers other benefits, such as free coffee and tea refills and ring codes good for free or discounted drinks during Happy Hour.
But there other ways to get freebies and save at the premium coffee purveyor. Try these 10 hacks.
Sign up for a Starbucks Rewards credit card
Get 36 free food or beverage items with the Chase-branded Visa card. Spend $500 in three months (on anything) and you'll get 4,500 stars redeemable for the free goods through the reward program. Go to Starbucks.com/starbucks-rewards/credit-card for more info.
Forget paying full-price for lattes. Order a Grande coffee (or chai tea) in a Venti cup (ask for room) and add milk and sugar at the condiment bar.
Free puppy lattes
Bring your doggie to Starbucks and ask for a "Puppuccino," which is whipped cream served in a 3-ounce Demi sample cup. Your dog will lap it up.
Be green and bring your own cup and you'll get a 10 cent discount.
You have free articles remaining.
Forget buying expensive bottled water in stores. Bring your own bottle or ask for a Venti iced water. The chain triple-filters its water, so it tastes great.
Order from the secret menu
Try a magical Butterbeer Frappuccino or a refreshing Peach Citrus White Tea. These items are not on the menu, but you can find recipes for these drinks and many more at SunSentinel.com/StarbucksSecrets.
Downsize and save
Order an 8-ounce Short coffee, which is Tall's cheaper, younger brother. Drinks come in five sizes, not just Tall (12 ounces), Grande (16 ounce) or Venti (20 ounce). There also is a supersize 31-ounce Trenta, which is gonna cost you even more.
Split with a friend
Order a Trenta Frappuccino and have the barista split it into two Grande cups. You'll pay a lot less than the cost of two drinks. Of course, you'll have to agree on the flavor.
Ask for a French press
If you have multiple people in your party, ask the barista for a French press. A whole pot costs less served this way than what each single cup would cost together.
Uber Eats now delivers Starbucks in select cities and you can try it for free — twice — with a coupon code.
Grounds for gardens
Starbucks will give you a big bag of coffee grounds for your garden or compost bin. This program feeds the earth while recycling and reducing waste, but may not be available in all stores.
