CLINTON, Iowa — The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded an $868,000 grant to help fund wastewater improvements in the Clinton area.

The grant will help fund a $3.9 million project that will include a lift station and 17,200 feet of sewer pipe to connect the City of Low Moor to the new wastewater treatment facility being built nearby.

The wastewater treatment plant, estimated to cost about $37.6 million, is expected to be in operation by the end of next year.

“This is an investment in environmental protection and infrastructure that will provide long-term economic and health benefits,” EPA Region 7 Regional Administrator Karl Brooks said.
