The filing period for political candidates seeking ballot placement on their party’s nomination ballot for the March 20 primary in Illinois begins at 8 a.m. Monday and ends at 5 p.m. Dec. 4.
Rock Island County Clerk Karen Kinney said the County Clerk’s Office collects filings of petition packets for those seeking county offices—County Treasurer, Sheriff, County Clerk, Regional Superintendent of Schools, and County Board—as well as Democratic and Republican precinct committeemen.
The Illinois State Board of Elections collects filings for state and federal candidates, such as U.S. House, Governor, General Assembly, etc.
Kinney said the clerk’s office will post filing information online, including names of candidates, offices sought, party affiliation, and date and time of the filing at the Clerk’s Office.
The public may view candidate information by going to www.ricountyclerk.org and clicking on the “Candidate Filings for the March 20, 2018, Primary” link.
Candidates who file simultaneously for the same office in the same party will be entered into a lottery for ballot placement order on or before Dec. 13 as determined by the County Clerk.
