A man accused of shooting his grandfather in East Moline has an August trial date.

On Nov. 17, 2017, Robert E. Neal Sr., 69, of East Moline, was shot in the 200 block of 19th Street, according to authorities. Roman Knox, 24, also of East Moline, was arrested soon after and has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death.

The case was tentatively set for trial in February, but was postponed.

Andrew Larson, Knox’s attorney, said Thursday that he had all the material pertaining to the case except for some scientific reports. If the case goes to trial, he is expecting it to start Aug. 27.

On Nov. 28, the judge ordered a fitness evaluation for Knox, according to court records. Mr. Knox was found fit to participate in the case on Dec. 27.

Knox was being held in the Rock Island County Jail on a $5 million bail.
