One person was airlifted to University Hospitals, Iowa City, with unknown injuries and another was treated at the scene following a head-on crash on Iowa 22 in Buffalo late Tuesday morning.
The Scott Emergency Communications Center received a call about 10:21 a.m. regarding the crash near 301 E. Front St., a four-lane road running east and west near the Mississippi River in the southwest part of Scott County.
The speed limit on the road is 50 mph.
Scott County sheriff’s deputies say a blue 2005 Mercury Mariner driven by a 19-year-old Davenport man was driving west on Front Street, crossed the four lanes of traffic and struck a dump truck head-on.
The driver of the Mercury was transported to Iowa City via MedForce, according to deputies. The driver of the dump truck, a 58-year-old Blue Grass man, was treated and released at the scene.
The Iowa State Patrol, Buffalo and Blue Grass fire departments, Medic, Iowa Department of Transportation, and the DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement also responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
