Clinton Police Department is investigating an incident that left one dog dead and eight taken from a home, according to the police department.
At about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Clinton Humane Society requested assistance from police at 422 4th Ave. North to remove pit bull dogs from the residence. Officers located eight live dogs and one deceased and the home was without heat, power or water. The dogs were covered in feces and blood.
An owner of the residence told officers the dogs were fighting inside the residence and she was unable to control them, so she called for assistance. She said the deceased dog was killed by one of the other dogs. The owner allowed the dogs to be removed from the house and taken to the humane society.
Police continue to investigate. Charges are pending.
