A Rock Island woman was sentenced Friday to seven years in prison in connection with a cocaine overdose death in January 2017.
Charlonda M. Crittenden, 43, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony, according to court records.
In exchange for her plea, Rock Island County prosecutors dismissed the more serious charge of drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony.
She must serve two years of mandatory supervised release once she completes her prison sentence. Crittenden also was given credit for time already served in the Rock Island County Jail, according to court records.
According to court documents, Crittenden delivered less than a gram of cocaine to Adam John Verdick, 44, between Jan. 18 and 19, 2017.
Just before 7 a.m. Jan. 19, 2017, police and fire departments responded to the 3700 block of 9th Street and found Verdick dead, according to police.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson has said that Verdick died from "adverse effects" of cocaine.
