The Scott County Sheriff’s Department has officially released the name of the woman who died Thursday night in a house fire in Blue Grass.
Cynthia Webb, 59, died of thermal exposure and smoke inhalation according to an autopsy performed Saturday, Scott County Sheriff Tim Lane said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Lane added.
The Iowa State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire at 13308 95th Ave., at 6:08 p.m. Thursday. They found Webb’s body while fighting the blaze.
Webb had worked for many years with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, then was an administrative assistant with the Davenport Police Department, and later became an administrative assistant to the Davenport City Council.
City of Davenport spokeswoman Jennifer Nahra said that Webb began working for the city in February of 2001 as an administrative assistant in the police department. In 2005, she became the administrative assistant to the city council. She concluded her employment with the city in 2009.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Center Cemetery in Wayland, Iowa, according to Webb’s obituary. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
