Describe a classroom learning experience you'll remember forever: I will never forget the kindness and support I had from all of my teachers during my time recovering from an intense surgery in April of my sophomore year. One teacher in particular went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t fall too far behind in my schoolwork. When I just couldn’t handle the drive from my house into school following my surgery, my Spanish teacher, Señora McNeill, brought the classroom to me. After school hours, she came to my house and helped me practice the words and worked through lessons with me. Her patience and commitment to all of her students is something I will remember forever.
KAILEE MEYER, daughter of Jamie and Ann Meyer of Tipton, plans to major in secondary mathematics at Central College, Pella, Iowa.

• All-Conference, golf, basketball, volleyball
• Ranked 2nd in class
Describe a classroom learning experience you’ll remember forever: Growing up in a small town has allowed me to make connections with my teachers that couldn’t be possible in a larger school. One teacher, in particular, makes her students feel intelligent and allows them to grow in her classroom. Stephanie McNeill, known to many of us as Senora, is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is a very understanding teacher and pushes us to do our best. The way she teaches and helps us learn is an experience I will never forget. I don’t have one experience overall that was the best, everything in her class is unforgettable. After I graduate college, I am hoping to become a teacher like Senora and give my students unforgettable classroom experiences. Many teachers push their students to exceed in the classroom, and Senora does just that. She is an amazing teacher, one I will never forget.

BLAKE SLOAN, son of Sheri and Darel Sloan of Tipton, plans to major in forensic science at Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa.
• 3.9 GPA, Kirkwood Community College
• “A” Honor Roll
• Academic excellence recognition from Simpson College
Describe a classroom learning experience you’ll remember forever: I will always remember my science teacher, Mr. Walsh, setting up a bunch of pieces of paper that had a bunch of fake blood spread and dropped on to the paper and we had to figure out at what speed and angle and height the blood was coming from to cause it to make that specific pattern on the paper. The section that we got to learn about forensics in that Biotechnology class was what formed my interest and passion in combining science with criminal justice, which is why I chose to go to Simpson College, as they are one of few colleges in the area that have a forensic science program.
DAULTON MENTE, son of Troy and Denise Mente of Tipton.

• Academic All State, basketball

Describe a classroom learning experience you’ll remember forever: I will always remember the industrial arts and welding classes I have taken through high school. These classes teach students many things that will be useful in life even if they don't pursue a profession. These skills will be used quite frequently for any homeowner. Welding was a first for me this year and within a few weeks of doing it I felt pretty comfortable and proficient in it. This year I was also in a residential construction and we did many little projects where we built things for the school. These little projects teach you the basics of every exterior aspect of building a house or shed. Most of all I will remember building these types of things with my classmates and having a good time in the shop. I would recommend everyone taking at least one industrial arts class to learn the basics of power tools.
