The Kahl property is one of two Eastern Iowa Community College-related properties in transition.
The college is holding a public hearing Monday to take comment on the proposed sale of the Midwest Center for Public Safety Training, 8228 N. Fairmount St., Davenport. The hearing is scheduled to be at 7 p.m. at 101 W. 3rd St., on the college's Urban Campus in downtown Davenport.
The training center, formerly the Wacky Waters water park, has been in the college's hands since 2007, when it bought the site for about $1.2 million.
That also is the amount offered to the college, Don Doucette, chancellor of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, said Wednesday.
The college had hoped the center would be a place for public safety training for police, fire and other agencies over a multi-state area, but it "never came together," Doucette said.
He said the college gets little income from the property.
Doucette said the offer to purchase came from Hawkeye Paving, Corp. An official there could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
